2D6: New Beginnings, Fresh Perspectives
Since its inception in 2019, hubCAP Gallery has marked the start of the new programme year* by offering an early glimpse into the ideas, experiments and visual approaches emerging within the HND Contemporary Art Practice course.
Organised by the student-led hubCAP Gallery Committee, this iterative exhibition brings together a diverse selection of two-dimensional work by first and second year students. Created during the opening weeks of the academic year, the exhibition reflects the energy, curiosity and willingness to experiment that underpin contemporary art practice at Edinburgh College.
Now in its sixth year 2D6 will showcases a broad range of approaches to drawing. The exhibition highlights both the fresh perspectives of new students beginning their creative journeys and the continued development of returning students as they expand and refine their practices.
Taking place at The Gatehouse, Edinburgh College Granton Campus, the exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to engage with a vibrant community of emerging artists and gain insight into the diverse directions contemporary art education can take.
The exhibition opens with a public preview on 21 October, 5pm-7pm, preceded by a quiet opening from 4.30pm-5pm, creating a more accessible viewing opportunity for visitors who may prefer a calmer environment.
More than simply a showcase of student work, 2D6 celebrates the collaborative spirit, creative ambition and culture of experimentation that define Contemporary Art Practice at Edinburgh College.
